About me & my Work ⋆。°✩ ⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊✩₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆
One of my earliest memories is about drawing on colorful origami paper, cut into four smaller squares. In elementary and middle school, I created in Eyekong Art Studio and Drawing Roll Roll Studio. Now I draw in my free time, work with metals at Punahou's jewelry studio, and occasionally design for club posters and for the student newspaper.
I like lots of mediums and often I change between styles. I enjoy the versatility it affords me. In the past, I struggled with the idea that my art must be one thing and not another -- that I must have a consistent artstyle, that I must choose a medium. I was attracted to the ideology of fine art, but my own work often leaned closer to illustration. I enjoyed the painstaking intricacy of a 0.2 mm pen as much as I enjoyed the bold primary colors of giant paint markers. Perhaps it is important to decide on such things if marketability is the goal, but for me, for now, art is purely expression, a necessary byproduct of my existence. Even utilitarian works like posters are a small piece of myself. It would be antithetical to the goal of my art to restrict myself in this regard.
